Hubberton Hike - Bradley / Skipton

YORKIEBOYS YORKSHIRE HIKES

The Twenty-fifth of our "Hubberton Hikers Hikes" is now scheduled for Saturday January 22nd 2005. The hike is planned to start at 11am from the Cavendish St or Church St Car parks Skipton, just off the A6069. The hike is approximately 8 miles long and will take about 3.5 to 4 hours at a gentle pace. It is planned to have a pub sandwich/meal and a drink at the Red Lion public house when the hike is completed.

We join the Canal towpath at Belmont Bridge by going through the gap next to Victoria buildings and follow the steps down. We follow the canal for approx 2 miles passing Skipton Hospital. Eventually the Canal bends away from the main road and the village of Bradley comes into view. At the swing bridge 182a we leave the Canal towpath by turning left onto the Ings Lane. We follow the lane all the way up to the junction. Cross Lidget Road into an enclosed path opposite. Cross a stile into a small field and up to another stile that leads into an enclosed paved path. This leads into College Court, before reaching a lane where we turn left. After few yards follow the second of 2 lanes on our right (next to a telegraph pole), up to a wooden gate that leads into another lane. Go through this almost immediately and go up a walled lane opposite. As the lane bends left, cross the stile in the wall on your right. Continue forward keeping the wall on your left over a further 4 stone stiles and into a large field. Walk parallel with the wall on your right before passing a piece of wall jutting out into the field, then bear slightly right towards a stile, turning left up Jackson's Lane to a stile on the left (opposite Newlands Farm entrance). Crossing the stile we bearing half right to walk diagonally across the field to reach a gate. Immediately turn right and walk up the next field.

The rest of this walk will have to be DICTATED to Johnny Lord so he will be ABLE to lead us safely back to Skipton as there is not enough space left to give full details! SORRY.

ANY FRIENDS OR FAMILY CAN JOIN THIS BRILLIANT BAND OF PEOPLE ON THE DAY AT THE SAID TIME. PLEASE INFORM LEADER OF ANY INTAKES!

The terrain is of a few uphill pulls, but reasonably easy. The start will be taken at a leisurely pace so as to make sure that ALL those who wish to complete the hike will do so. PLEASE take note of "ANDYS AMBLING ADVICE" and ensure that warm and waterproof clothing is/are taken in case of any change in the weather.
