YORKIEBOYS YORKSHIRE HIKES
The Nineteenth of our "Hubberton Hikers Hikes" is now scheduled for
Saturday July 24th 2004.
The hike is planned
to start at 11.00am from the car park at the White House Pub on Rochdale road that
is situated approx. 5 miles outside the village of Ripponden, towards Rochdale.
The hike is approximately
10 - 12 miles long and will take about 4.5 to 5 hours at a gentle pace. It is
planned to have a History lesson on the Way about the Summit Tunnel and Route of the Rochdale
Canal by non other than "Jonathan Lord" HIMSELF.
| The walk will be in the region of 10 - 12 miles and will start from the White House pub car park. The Walk will then amble along on toward White house Reservoir. We then head Right along White Holme drain and across Turley holes and High House moor. We then start to head left joining the Pennine Way for a short spell before dropping down to the village of Summit. The Canal towpath is then taken (making sure we pass the Pubs WITHOUT calling in) until the Chelburn Moor footpath comes into sight. We follow the twisting climbing path passing a few Reservoirs on the way before descending the path back to the Car Park. Food and Drink can be consumed in the White House once the walk has been COMPLETED. Please ENJOY your walk. |
ANY FRIENDS OR FAMILY CAN JOIN THIS BRILLIANT BAND OF PEOPLE ON THE DAY AT THE SAID TIME. PLEASE INFORM LEADER OF ANY INTAKES!
The terrain is Mountain and Mooreland pasture of a fairly moderate surface and well-worn paths. The distance is in the region of 10 - 12 miles. The start will be taken at a leisurely pace so as to make sure that ALL those who wish to complete the hike will do so. PLEASE take note of "ANDYS AMBLING ADVICE" and ensure that warm and waterproof clothing is/are taken in case of any change in the weather.
It is recommended that PLENTY of drink, Sandwich and a snack bar be taken, (chocolate - if preferred).
