YORKIEBOYS YORKSHIRE HIKES Hubberton Hike 77

Sat 20 Mar 10, 11am: Theiveley Pike, Holme Chapel


The Seventy-seventh of our "Hubberton Hikers Hikes" is now scheduled for Saturday March 20th 2010. The hike is planned to start at 11am from the car park at The Rams Head in Holme Chapel (Cliviger). The hike is approximately 6.5/7 miles long and will take about 3.5 to 4.5 hours at a gentle pace. It is planned to have plenty of “breathing in” stops on the climb.

Directions: Hebden Bridge - Todmorden - Follow the Burnley Road to Holme Chapel, looking for the Ram Inn on the left hand side as you enter the village. Satnav nearest post code: BB10 4SU (NB: The post code is approx 200 yards beyond the Inn).

The walk will start from the car park. The Walk will then proceed past the pub and then sharp left up towards Thieveley Pike, (NO Brian we can’t stop here for a swift one). We then head up the hill where the gradient starts to climb quite steeply for about 200yds. If you look behind you it is possible to see the wind turbines on Black Scout appearing in full splendour. After descending to the village of Portsmouth, we will return to the car park along the opposite side of the valley. Food and Drink can be consumed in the Rams Head. Please ENJOY your walk.

The terrain is Moderate to Hard with steep climbs over rough peaty Mooreland. The distance is in the region of 6.5 miles. The start will be taken at a leisurely pace so as to make sure that ALL those who wish to complete the hike will do so. PLEASE take note of “ANDYS AMBLING ADVICE” and ensure that warm and waterproof clothing is/are taken in case of any change in the weather.
