A number of walks have been tried and tested by myself (and one of the 2 YORKSHIRE converts from Coventry). The object of the exercise was to listen to “our valued members” and to plan a number of walks in the area. The walk on the Saturday is approximately 10 miles and includes the climb of Sharp Edge, Blencathra and Skiddaw. We start off the walk heading along and up towards Sharp Edge. Upon reaching the Top of Sharp Edge we will swing round to start the ascent of Blencathra where it is hoped Heather and Sue will be in a better state than what they were on Striding Edge! Great Views are anticipated from the summit, not only of Hubberton but the rest of England too! The descent will be via a different way not as yet planned, but will include Skiddaw and this will be planned within the next month or so, (we do try to vary it a little!).

The Hubberton Hikers are On the Move “AGAIN” (there’s no keeping us stationary) to Patterdale in the Lake District on the weekend of 21st/23rd September 2007. We aim to meet at Patterdale Youth Hostel on Friday 21st September from 6.30pm onwards.
The intention is for us all to stay in the Youth Hostel on the Friday and Saturday nights although I know one or two could be staying at Caravan sites/Pubs /Hotels locally. I have booked the Youth Hostel for 8 female and 8 males. The cost of the accommodation will be in the region of £15 - per person per night. Breakfast can be ordered at the Youth Hostel at a cost of £3.95ish. Evening meals can be bought at the pub/hotel in the village of Patterdale. If members wish, they can bring along there own food and cater for themselves, as there is a large self-catering kitchen on site.
As there is an URGENCY to book and pay for the accommodation as soon as is possible. The first 8 of each sex to book will guaranteed a place, a deposit is therefore required. The deposit I am asking for is £30 per person (for 2 nights) and is NON – REFUNDABLE. Please could you ensure this is paid by Thursday 29th of March 2007?
