A number of walks have been tried and tested by myself (and one of the 2 YORKSHIRE converts from Coventry). The object of the exercise was to listen to "our valued members" and to plan a number of walks in the area. The walk on the Saturday is approximately 10 miles and includes the climb of the 3rd highest mountain in England, Helvellyn. We start off the walk heading along and up towards Striding Edge. Upon reaching the Top of Striding Edge we will swing round to start the ascent of Helvellyn where it is hoped Heather will be in a better state than what she was in Wales! Great Views are anticipated from the summit, not only of Hubberton but the rest of England too! The descent will be via a different way not as yet planned, but will be planned within the next month or so, (we do try to vary it a little!).
If anybody wishes further information, please ask and I will endeavour to find a solution to ANY predicament.
The Hubberton Hikers are On the Move "AGAIN" (there's no keeping us stationary) to Grasmere in the Lake District on the weekend of 22nd/23rd September 2006. We aim to meet at Grasmere Thorney How Youth Hostel on Friday 22nd September from 6.30pm onwards.
The intention is for us all to stay in the Youth Hostel on the Friday and Saturday nights although I know one or two could be staying at Caravan sites/Pubs locally. I must book the Youth Hostel by Friday 30th of June at the latest. The cost of the accommodation will be in the region of £13 - per person per night depending on what rooms I can book. Breakfast can be ordered at the Youth Hostel at a cost of £3.95ish. Evening meals can be bought at the pubs in the village of Grasmere. If members wish, they can bring along there own food and cater for themselves, as there is a large self-catering kitchen on site.
As there is an URGENCY to book and pay for the accommodation as soon as is possible, a deposit is therefore required. The deposit I am asking for is £26 per person (for 2 nights) and is NON - REFUNDABLE. Please could you ensure this is paid by Thursday 29th of June 2006? If people wish to pay by cheque, can they please make cheques payable to A M Bradley.
If any member wishes to bring along a friend or partner, they are quite welcome to do so.
