A number of walks have been tried and tested by myself (and one of the 2
YORKSHIRE converts from Coventry). The object of the exercise was to
listen to "our valued members" and to plan a number of walks in
the area. The walk on the Saturday is approximately 7 miles max and
includes the climb of Hayfield. We start off the walk heading along
and up towards Black Sail YHA where we head west gradually ascending
Pillar. Upon reaching the Top of Pillar, we will swing round to start
the ascent of Hayfield where it is hoped Heather and Sue will be in a
better state than what they were on Striding Edge! Great Views are
anticipated from the summit, not only of Cockermouth and Jennings
brewery, but the rest of England too! The descent will be via Ennerdale
Lake end, not actually walking round the lake unless time permits.
If anybody wishes further information, please ask and I will endeavour
to find a solution to ANY predicament.
The Hubberton Hikers are On the Move "AGAIN" (there’s no keeping
us stationary) to Ennerdale in the Lake District on the
weekend of 17th/19th September 2010. We aim to meet at Ennerdale Youth
Hostel on Friday 17th September from 6.30pm onwards.
The intention is for us all to stay in the Youth Hostel on the Friday
and Saturday nights although I know one or two could be staying at
Caravan sites locally. I have booked the Youth Hostel for 8 female and
8 males. The cost of the accommodation will be in the region of £19.50
- per person per night, breakfast is not inclusive. Evening meals can
be bought at the YHA. If members wish, they can bring along there own
food and cater for themselves, as there is a large self-catering kitchen
on site.
As there is an URGENCY to book and pay for the accommodation as soon as is possible: The first 8 of each sex to book will guaranteed a place, a deposit is therefore required. The deposit I am asking for is £36 per person (for 2 nights) and is NON – REFUNDABLE. Please could you ensure this is paid by Thursday 29th of July 2010?
